Abstract

This study examines the impact of a semester study abroad experience in Argentina on the second language acquisition of three American university Spanish learners. The goal is to measure development of two aspects of oral communication skills: fluency and performance in the oral functions of narration, and description and supporting an opinion.

Christina L. Isabelli-García

Christina Isabelli García is an assistant professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she teaches courses in second language acquisition, Hispanic linguistics, and history of the Spanish language. Her research interests include the relation between social networks and the linguistic and oral communication development of university study abroad students.
